We have reached our goal of raising $6 million to fund the new Athletics Complex! This complex is the physical embodiment of our belief at St. Agnes in the value of a healthy, active lifestyle for all Academy women. The campaign has had many exciting firsts: from our first-ever $1 million dollar donation, to 19 gifts of $100,000 or more. The board of directors had record-breaking participation, both in percentage of members and in amount contributed. In all, a total of 136 families, foundations, and corporations supported our vision and helped us build this beautiful addition to the neighborhood. Over the course of the campaign, the community came together for many memorable events. We started 2012 with more than 100 people volunteering their time at the new complex to plant 95 trees. A few months later, we celebrated completion of construction with the Blessing of the Fields as the Most Reverend Joseph Fiorenza, Archbishop Emeritus of Galveston-Houston, offered his blessings to the our community and sprinkled holy water across the fields. The softball fields were opened with an exhilarating (and wet!) alumnae game in June. Students, parents, and alumnae brought bags of soil from Senior Field to carry the luck and heritage to the new field. We give thanks for the completion of the entire Athletics Complex and look forward to the many years of softball games, lacrosse and field hockey matches, and soccer tournaments. Now, we turn our sights to the next phase of the St. Agnes Master Plan - a Performing Arts and Student Life Center - as we continue our commitment to best meet the needs of Academy women now, and for years to come.
