"The Pajama Game" Continues It's Run
! Join us for the final two perfomances of the St. Agnes Academy/Strake Jesuit College Preparatory spring musical. Curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Mar. 2 and 3 in the SAA auditorium. The Tommy Tune judges will be at the Friday performance so we need a packed house and lots of applause! Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.

Green Club Donations Needed!: The Green Club is looking for flowers, soil and NEW pots for our Earth Week activities. If you are interested in donating any of these items, please contact Jocelyn Vincent.

Recycling Drive Starts Next Week:
Mar. 5-8 in the rotunda. Bring large electronics such as VCRs, DVD players, flat screen tvs, monitors, cables, chargers, batteries, coffee pots, etc. All laptops and cell phones should go to Mrs. Vincent in S201. Did you know?...St. Agnes ranks third out of more than 600 high schools in the U.S. for recycled small electronics.

Amazing Istanbul: This three-part series on the mystery and history of the Imperial City is presented by Dr. William Neidinger (Strake Jesuit '68). All are welcome to join us 7-8:30 p.m. Monday evenings Mar. 19 through Apr. 2 in the Fleming Room. To learn more and to register, click here. Registration is $40 per person with a reduced price for students available by contacting Dr. Neidinger. Plan your journey through the centuries at Nea Roma, Constantinople, Byzantium, and Istanbul!

Counselors' Corner

Reflection Sheet for Parents of Juniors: This is a reminder that Parent Reflection Sheets are due to the counseling office by Friday, Mar. 9. Click here to view the document in PDF and Word format. Please turn the form in to Susan Maher in the counseling office.

Attention Senior Parents!: If you intend for your daughter to receive a financial aid package from the colleges or universities where she has been accepted, please be sure to have your FAFSA filled out no later than Mar. 15. This is the standard deadline for higher-ed institutions. Please go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. It is best to have your current year taxes completed to avoid being chosen for a verification process. You should never pay to have someone help you fill out this form. Please see your daughter's counselor with any questions.

Junior Scholarship Opportunities: As juniors dive into the college search, they should also be dipping their toes into the scholarship search. While it is true that the majority of scholarships are for students in their senior year, there are a few for juniors (or younger). Click here to read about an example and how to apply.

Dads' Club

Join us 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Mar. 3 at West Houston Assistance Ministry (WHAM) for our Spring Father/Daughter service day. This will be our second year helping out at WHAM. This is a great opportunity for the girls to spend time with their dad and classmates. In addition, several of the school clubs allow the girls to earn service hours for their participation.

A big 'thanks' to Mike Simon who will once again be providing breakfast to the volunteers courtesy of Shipley Do-Nuts.

After the event there will be a Dutch treat lunch for those who are interested. To find out more or to volunteer please contact Joe Berno. WHAM is at 3100 Rogerdale, Houston, TX 77042, just minutes away from St. Agnes at Beltway 8. All work will be done indoors, come rain or shine. See you there.

Our next Dads' Club meeting will be 6 p.m. Monday, Mar. 5 in the SAA cafeteria.

The 2012 SAA Gala "La Bella Notte" is on Mar. 24. The Dads' Club routinely helps with logistics on this event. The Gala is also in need of gift cards to restaurants or stores to put in the grab bags that will be available that evening. Any amount will work! We are also accepting wine bottles for the wine pull. Bottles around $50 are preferred as each wine pull will cost $50 the night of the event. To volunteer, donate or for more information, please contact Cris Reyes.

We are busy trying to fill positions for next year. If you are interested, please email me. The following are open: Follow Your Daughter's Schedule; Christmas Committee; Solidarity Day; Underclass Awards Reception; Junior Ring Ceremony. I promise- if you email me for more information, there is no obligation. Most of these committees are a "one time deal", so there is not a lot of commitment required!

The varsity golf team travels to College Station, and is excited to compete in sunny weather. The track team heads for Lamar Consolidated and our tennis team started district play this week, hoping to build on their success.

Please join the St. Agnes community at the Blessing of the Fields at our new Athletics Complex at 2 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 22. Make sure your Spring Sports Banquet RSVP has been turned in for all teams and all grades. We continue to look for parents interested in leadership rolls for next fall.
