The Diversity Club is dedicated to cultivating a diversity of consciousness among the St. Agnes student body. We define diversity of consciousness as a mindset that embraces cultural diversity in all its forms. We focus on addressing various social justice issues such as racism, homophobia, immigration, religious prejudices, socio-economic differences, etc. Projects include organizing Diversity Week, presenting a diversity of consciousness assembly or lunch-time symposium for the student body, organizing events that inspire ally building among different groups who feel silenced because of their minority status, and addressing social justice issues that arise during the school year. We also organize various social events during the course of the year to build community and carry the learning experience of the club into the larger community and the real world. Club meetings are dedicated to dialogue on various social justice issues and to building camaraderie based on mutual respect and interest.
