Parent Reflection Sheet for Class of 2013:
Each year the college counselors ask the rising seniors to complete a
self-reflection sheet and resume that assists their college counselor in
writing their letter of recommendation to colleges and universities. In
addition, we give parents the opportunity to share their thoughts on
their daughter and her college process by completing a parent reflection
sheet. We ask that parent reflection sheets be returned to the
counseling office by
Friday, March 9th. Click

printJunior Conferences with the College Counselors
We have been meeting with our juniors since January 19th and will continue meeting with them throughout the spring semester. Each student receives a checklist and guidelines during our visit. Students have been prompted to sign up on our doors for these meetings and to come prepared with a list of at least five schools in their Naviance account. We are asking our juniors to research schools to determine the admissions requirements and we are helping them add additional schools to their lists. This is also a time for us to discuss spring testing with each girl as well as all of the components that go into the application process.
We encourage families to begin visiting schools if this part of the process has yet to begin. The spring is a wonderful time to visit with many built-in days off for our juniors. Additionally, St. Agnes will host two min-college fairs this spring. The Jesuit colleges and universities travel together each spring and will be here on February 27th and we are hosting a Spring College Fair on April 13th for colleges that have yet to be determined. More information about these two fairs will be made available to our juniors at a later date. Both fairs will occur during the school day.
Today is the last day to register online for a Sophomore Parent/Student Conference. The sophomore conferences allow
us to review the PLAN and the PSAT, discuss curriculum choices for the
junior year and begin the exploration around the college-admissions
process. Conferences are 30 minutes in length and occur Feb. 21 - April
3. Parents should have received an e-mail with instructions on how
to sign up for a conference online. Please check with your daughter before
scheduling an appointment so that she does not miss a core academic
class. Families that do not sign up online will be assigned a date and
time with one of the counselors. To register for sophomore conference,

A reminder for our Junior Parents regarding
College Visit Days
We encourage our juniors to visit colleges during the spring of their junior year. For a complete explanation of the procedures for the college visits, please see page 30 of the student handbook.
Students and parents often forget that we MUST have a hand-written note from the parent or guardian telling us the day(s) of the trip and the destination as well. This note must be brought to our office at least 24 hours in advance of the college visit. We also ask the student to bring the note before school, after school or at lunch so that Ms. Maher can work without interruption during the school day.
Once on a campus, the student is expected to obtain an acknowledgement note from the admissions office and return that note to Mrs. Morin so that the absence is excused.
