Coffee with the Counselors provides each family with an opportunity to meet the counseling staff during the month of August.  Designed by grade level, you can come and meet your daughter's counselor, hear a brief overview by the department and ask questions.  Light morning refreshments will be served and we promise to have you on the road no later than 9 am.  All meetings will happen in the Strake Family Cafeteria at St. Agnes and the start time is 8:15 am. This year's Coffee with the Counselors for 12th grade parents will include 2014 updates regarding The University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University which will conclude by 9:30am.

Senior Parent Information Night
We encourage all senior parents to attend to learn more about the college application process. The college counselors look forward to meeting you and answering all of your questions about college admissions.

Strategies for Financing College
Nathan Birney, a financial advisor with Ameriprise Financial Advisors, will conduct a seminar for the SAA and SJ parent community This informative session will help you understand financial aid calculations, analyze college costs, evaluate your savings and investment vehicles, and explore a variety of tax implications.  This seminar is open to all our parents regardless of the grade level of your daughter.  Our counseling departments have found that planning early for the cost of a college education allows families to position themselves more effectively.

Junior Parent Information Night
The college counselors will host this event in the St. Agnes Academy Strake Family Cafeteria. This is an excellent opportunity to meet your daughter's counselor and learn about the junior programming at St. Agnes. The college counselors will also be discussing testing, the college admissions process, trending and preparing for senior and year and the college application process.  Light snacks will be served.

Kaplan, Inc. will be offering our juniors an opportunity to take a mock PSAT. We will be using the St. Agnes Academy Strake Family Cafeteria for the test.  All interested juniors are asked to sign up in mid-September in the counseling office if they plan to participate.  Cost is $5 with proceeds donated to charity.

Teens and Risky Behavior Parent Night
The Center for Wellness and Student Support is excited to introduce our new and updated programming plans for the year.  We are partnering with the Dean of Students Office to offer this important information that focuses on the health and well-being of our students. The first evening program is open to parents from all four grade levels and focuses on adolescent risky behaviors and substance use. Jill Ahrens, LPC from The Council on Alcohol and Drugs - Houston will share her vast knowledge of the current trends in adolescent substance use and the possible warning signs to be aware of in your daughter. Our new drug testing policy will be explored and discussed. Please join us Wednesday, October 22nd at 6:30 pm in St. Agnes' Strake Family Cafeteria.

St. Agnes Academy will be administering the PSAT to all of our sophomores and juniors.  The fee for this test has already been paid earlier this year.  All sophomores and juniors will be dismissed following the administration.  We anticipate this occurring around 11:30 am.

College Panel
Members of the Class of 2014 will return to St. Agnes to discuss college life with our juniors and seniors.

Sycamore Learning Company SAT and ACT Seminars
We are pleased to announce that we have entered into a partnership with Sycamore Learning Company to conduct a one day workshop for test preparation.  This one day program is designed for juniors who are preparing for the spring 2015 college testing cycle. One day will be dedicated to the SAT and an additional day will focus on the ACT.

Sophomore Conference Webcast LIVE
A webcast system specifically designed for the sophomore class and their parents was introduced in 2012  in lieu of our traditional sophomore conference.  With this webcast, we hope to provide the sophomore class a thorough and consistent base of knowledge for college and academic planning. Additional topics covered include: understanding the importance of your GPA, a discussion of PSAT and PLAN results, college entrance test prep, taking a second year of foreign language vs. a third, and much more. The information we provide will be easily accessed in the comfort of your own home with SAA counselors as a guide to facilitate the student- parent partnership in planning for the future St. Agnes graduate.  Sophomore conferences will still be available to each family after viewing the webcast should the family seek further information.
