Join us for Mass Tuesday: The Rev. Dan Warden from St. John Vianney Catholic Church will preside at Mass Tuesday in the St. Agnes Chapel at lunch. Join us! Don't forget to come and pray the Rosary on Thursdays - same time and place!

All Saints Day Mass - Tuesday, Nov. 1: As a community, we will celebrate All Saints Day 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1 in the St. Agnes Auditorium - where we will honor our alumnae who died in the past year. We invite members of our community to enter the names of your deceased loved ones here and they will be placed on the altar during our celebration.

Spring Musical Auditions - "South Pacific:" This St. Agnes spring musical is based on the hugely popular novel "Tales of the South Pacific" by James A. Michener.St. Agnes is competing at the 2012 Tommy Tune Awards Show again this season! This multi-award-winning show includes such classic songs as "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Out of my Hair," "Some Enchanted Evening,"
"Bali H'ai" and "There Is Nothing Like a Dame." Auditions take place next week in the St. Agnes Auditorium (all three days are mandatory):
• Tuesday, October 18th, 3:00-4:30pm, Dance Workshop and Auditions
• Wednesday, October 19th, 3:-4:30pm, Singing Auditions
• Thursday, October 20th, 3-4:30pm, Callbacks

The National Honor Society would like to encourage you to help save three lives by donating blood at our semi-annual blood drive. The blood drive will be conducted by St. Luke's and will take place on Monday, Oct. 24 from 8:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Appointments are required. Please go to and use Donor Group Code 1470 to schedule your appointment. Donors must be at least 17 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds. Students will be asked to donate only during an open lab or with her teacher's permission. Parents, faculty, and staff are encouraged to donate.

Fall Play - "Acts of God:" The SAA Theatre Arts Department is preparing for their exciting new play, ACTS OF GOD, premiering Nov. 4, 5, 11, 12, & 13. The show is an emotional, inspirational story about survival and new beginnings after a tornado has destroyed a small town, as told through the eyes of 12 high school students. We will be recreating a tornado inside our auditorium, and so we're looking for debris for our set! If you are doing any new construction at your homes or have fallen tree branches, lumber, old bicycles, old lawn furniture (or anything you might see all over a tornado-stricken town) or would be willing to donate for our show, please contact to organize a pick up or drop off. Ideally, we would like to have everything together no later than the weekend of Oct. 29-30. The theatre arts dept. thanks you in advance for all your support and help!

SAA Dads, don't miss the annual Father/Daughter Mass & Brunch on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. at the Intercontinental Hotel (2222 W. Loop South). It is an experience you and your daughter will treasure as you start the morning with a mass, then brunch and some light entertainment. You can also have pictures taken with your daughter. Thank you to Kathy Fenelon and her volunteers who helped to make College Night so successful! Also, thanks to Terri Dougherty for coordinating the 9th Grade Retreat this week...she makes it look so easy!

Joni Fichter and Carol Rynd are heading up Sorority Information Night, which will be Nov. 14 in the evening. If you were in a sorority and would be willing to support our SAA girls by writing recommendations, please contact Joni.

Upcoming events: We will once again be providing snacks for the girls during finals week! Thanks to Christine Hegwood and Rose Lindsey for heading up this committee; look for more information as the time gets closer.

Athletics & Booster Club

Soccer tryouts: Get ready for soccer season! Soccer tryouts will be the week of Oct. 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Booster Club would like to invite everyone to come to our final district volleyball game tonight. Our girls are playing at home for a share of first place in the district. It will also be senior night. It would be great to see the stands full! Cross country will participate in the state meet Oct. 22 and field hockey has away games next week on Oct. 17 and 19. Our first swim meet of the year is scheduled for Oct. 18 at home.

Booster Club has taken on many projects this year. We have sponsored spirit items and a video camera for the volleyball team, equipment totes for cross country, and other equipment for our teams. We are currently finalizing logo flags and tents to be used by our field teams. Whether your child plays a sport or not, there are many ways to get involved and help us build the strongest private school girls' athletic department in Texas. E-mail me and find out more!
