Message from the Principal
Deborah Whalen
We have just completed a grueling accreditation process by three difference governing bodies - all at the same time! We spent the last year writing self-studies and gathering artifacts in preparation for visiting teams from the Dominican Association of Secondary Schools, the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department, and AdvancEd. All three groups visited our campus during the last week of January and I am proud to say that we passed with flying colors! The timing of the feedback is perfect as we are about to begin the process of writing our next strategic plan.
The DASS visiting team specifically thanked our administration, faculty, staff and students for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality received. They commented that a spirit of inclusion and respect permeated all aspects of their visit. They also commended us for the following:
- An extraordinary Head who enlivens and inspires all constituencies to realize their potential and meet their goals.
- A highly qualified administrative team dedicated to the well-being of all.
- A competent and nurturing faculty who go above and beyond their classroom duties by participating in extra-curricular school activities and by taking a personal interest in their students.
- The Dominican Family whose members walk side by side with the Dominican Sisters to work on behalf of social justice.
- A committed faculty and administration which "assumes the risks inherent in preaching and teaching the Gospel."
- The strong sentiment of support for the Mission Statement of St. Agnes indicated in the survey responses by students, parents and faculty/staff.
We are all truly grateful for being recognized for the good work that we do at St. Agnes Academy!
