ACADEMY NEWS

A Message from Head of School Sr. Jane Meyer, O.P.: Many thanks to all of you who filled out our online parent survey last month. I want to take the opportunity to share with you the results of that survey and assure you that your comments are being heard. The administration looks very closely at your comments and recommendations and uses the results for the basis of much discussion and planning. I am very pleased with the overwhelmingly positive results of the survey. Your endorsement of our programs is essential and we appreciate all of your feedback. Please click here to see the results of the parent survey. If you would like to hear what our alumnae say about their SAA experience and how it has affected their performance in college, click here.

Raffle Update:
The Raffle Holiday is tomorrow! Get your sold tickets in time to have the day off. We had a great turn out of students, but we have many who still need to reach their quotas. The Raffle drawing is Monday, March 22 at the end of last period. Thank you to all of the incredible moms who volunteered this year to make the raffle the success it is! It could have not gone as smoothly without these faithful collection volunteers: Nancy Loncarich, Jan Spreen, Jo Till, Norma Walker, Debbie Lydon, Carol Lester, Cherie Schmoe, Donna Grehn, Allyn Riley, Alice Rohrman, Joan Nazario and Andrea Hollingsworth.

Mark your calendar for the Mother-Daughter Luncheon & Senior Style Show:
Join us Monday, April 26 at the Hilton Americas Hotel. Senior invitations will be mailed this week! Invitations to other classes will be sent after Spring Break. Don't miss this traditional SAA event to honor our seniors! It's a great opportunity for all of our students to enjoy a wonderful afternoon.

Algebra Summer Review Course:
Consider this two-week course designed for students entering Algebra 2 in the fall of 2010. For more information, contact Kathi Thompson, kthompso@st-agnes.org.

Legacy Paver Program - Honor your 2010 SAA graduate with a legacy paver:

Green Tip of the Week, from the SAA Green Club

St. Agnes students - as tech-savvy as they are environmentally conscious - would like to remind everyone to recycle old laptops and computers! The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality [TCEQ] created a law in 2009 which requires computer manufacturers to have free recycling programs for their customers. For a complete list of companies and their programs, see the TCEQ web site. For the Fujistu laptops used by St. Agnes sophomores and freshmen, here is the link to the Fujitsu Recycling Program: http://fujitsu.anythingit.com/. Just print the pre-paid label, and send the laptop in! Recycling used computer equipment helps conserve the reusable materials contained therein, such as copper, lead, and steel. This year alone TCEQ reported more that 12 million pounds of computer equipment collected - let's continue this statewide effort!
