Why is the Annual Fund necessary?
The SAA Annual Fund is the cornerstone of all fund raising for the Academy. Without it, SAA would not be able to keep its doors open for the entire school year. Tuition does not cover the full cost of educating a student at SAA. The cost to educate one student at SAA is $13,000. The cost of tuition is $10,900. The $1,800 difference per student must be found through other funds. This is why SAA depends on the Annual Fund each year. The most significant contribution any of us can make to St. Agnes is to the Annual Fund.
Why should I give?
• Every dollar you contribute to the SAA Annual Fund benefits each young woman attending St. Agnes.
• Every dollar is a silent scholarship to each student, keeping tuition low, allowing more families to send their child to a Dominican school.
• Corporations and foundations look to the total percentage of donor participation in giving before choosing who they will support.
• Your gift is tax deductible.
• Your gift can be matched by a matching-gift employer and double or triple your total gift to the Academy.
• You will be recognized in the Annual Report.
• If your gift is $1,800 or above, you will receive an invitation to the Guardian of Youth Dinner.
What are the goals of the Annual Fund and how are the funds utilized?
The 2008-2009 Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow Annual Fund goal is $1,000,000. We need every parent, alumnae, board member, faculty and staff member to contribute to meet this goal.
The SAA Annual Fund provides basic needs to our academic community:
• Maintenance of the facilities
• Highly qualified faculty and staff
• State of the art technology
• Athletic facilities and equipment
Why not raise tuition instead of asking for gifts?
• The Annual Fund allows all families, alumnae and friends to financially support the mission of SAA at whatever level their family decides.
• Our tuition would be much higher excluding some students from attending.
• Your tuition is not tax-deductible, but a gift to the Annual Fund is.

Matching Gifts
More than 500 companies match their employees' gifts. See your human resources department for the form and send it to us. The matching gift is counted toward your total gift to SAA. Your gift doubles if your company matches dollar for dollar.
Recognition
Each gift to the Annual Fund is important regardless how large or small. St. Agnes relies on each family to give because it will take 100% participation to raise $1,000,000 this year. The Veritas Society members make up the foundation of the Annual Fund. All individuals, companies and foundations are invited to join as members by making a gift of $1,800 or more to the Annual Fund. All members of the Veritas Society are invited to a dinner with the head of school at the beginning of the following school year.
