Welcome back!
We are off to a running start for the 2007-2008 school year at St. Agnes Academy! I welcome back all of our students and their families, and hope the summer was restful and relaxing. We are ready to begin another exciting year in the steps of St. Dominic, following our mission to praise, to bless and to preach by educating these outstanding, Houston-area young women in the Dominican tradition.

As many of you have already seen, we’ve made a lot of changes to our campus during the summer months. We are proud to open the doors to our Center for the Science and Student Services building. Inside, you will find many of our student support offices - Academic Dean, Dean of Students, registrar, guidance department, clinic and attendance office - located in one central area on the first floor. The second and third floors house our state-of-the-art science classrooms and laboratories. Our official dedication for the new building is slated for Tuesday, October 23, so please look for more information to come your way soon so that you can be a part of that special morning. We also are very excited to unveil the remodel of our fine arts center and art gallery. We enclosed the walkway between the two buildings on the east end and can hardly wait to see the magnificent student art work for which our school is known. As you walk the first floor in the main building, you will see how the "old science labs" morphed into beautiful first-floor classrooms. We welcome parents to take a tour on September 5 at Follow Your Daughter’s Schedule night. And, if you haven’t had a chance to participate financially in this exciting new project, it is not too late. Currently we are at $10.6 million of our $12 million Centennial Campaign. We hope to have it complete by the end of this year. Please join our "Tiger team" and help us get to the finish line!

I want thank you all for your patience and understanding during these first few, hectic weeks of school. Our teachers are still getting organized in their new spaces and students are finding their way to new classrooms and areas of our campus. We are happy to have more available parking for guests, but ask that you follow the campus maps and route directions listed in Tiger Tracks and on our Web site. We are genuinely thrilled to have such a supportive community as we continue to get settled into the latest phase of the Academy!

I look forward to working with you and your daughters in the coming school year as we partner to continue the Dominican mission! God bless you!

-Sr. Jane Meyer, O.P., Head of School

MORNING AND AFTERNOON TRAFFIC FLOW INFORMATION
• Student drop-off and pickup is at the following three locations:
o In front of the new Center for the Sciences and Student services
o In front of the Administration entrance
o In front of the Auditorium entrance on the east side of campus.
• Use the curb side as the drop off and pick up lane.  The center lane in front of the Science and Student services and the Administration entrance and the right lane at the Auditorium entrance are pass lanes only allowing parents to continue without delay once they have picked up their student.
• Please arrive no earlier than 3:15 p.m. to pick up your student.  The school ends at 3:05 p.m. and most students need a few minutes to navigate our halls, go to their locker, and visit with friends before meeting you at either the Administration or Auditorium entrance. The police officers will not allow the pick-up line to back up to Bellaire in the afternoon.
• The front parking lots, the back parking lots and the west side of campus are not a student pickup or drop off location as this will back traffic up on our campus significantly. The front parking lots will be closed to afternoon traffic.
• Traffic is one way only around the building with the entrance on the east side of campus and the exit on the west side of campus.
• Please pay attention to the campus speed limit of 10 MPH.
• Please do not block campus drive ways.

VISITOR PARKING & INFORMATION
• Visitor parking is on the west side of campus in front of the Administration entrance.
• Please follow the signs to the designated visitor parking spots.
• Please do not park in any other spot.  All other parking spots are numbered and are assigned to students, faculty and staff.
• All Visitors must sign in with the Receptionist at the Administration Building.

Annual Fund kicks off at Gifts of Learning Breakfast
The summer has flown by and, believe it or not, the fall is upon us. This year will be full of exciting changes, especially with the new building. Please contact Sophia Furnace '78, Director of Annual Giving, at sfurnace@st-agnes.org if you will be attending. Please call Sophia with questions. See you then!

Fall Sports Pep Rally
Come one, come all to the Fall Sports Pep Rally 2:15 PM Friday September 14th the new gym. Show your support for the girls participating in volleyball, cross country, water polo and Remix dance teams.

From the SAA Drama Department...
It's time again to pull our DRAMA MAMAS Committee together for 2007-2008! We are searching for parents of involved theatre drama students at St. Agnes who would be interested in helping with organizing concessions for intermission, advertising our upcoming shows, recruiting additional committee members to help out (typically 3-5 parents per show), and help with errands, etc...

This year's line up is VERY exciting! We are producing "The Diary of Anne Frank" in November, Student One Act Plays ("S.O.A.P.'s") in January, and Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing" in April. It should prove to be another marvelous year! We know you'll enjoy the season as much as we enjoy putting to together...the kids always work very hard.

Please notify Director Felicia Miller at fmiller@st-agnes.org if you are interested in helping our fantastic, busy department this year, even on a part-time basis. Thank you!

All moms are invited to the monthly meetings held in the Mothers’ Club room in the Strake Family Cafeteria.  Meetings start at 11:30 a.m. and begin with lunch and social time. The business meeting convenes at noon and lasts approximately one hour.  These meetings will provide you with information about the many different events taking place at the school. Come join us. Get involved. Meet new friends!

The plans for many of the activities are in full swing. Our Welcome Coffee was held this morning in the new Center for the Sciences and Student Services building. Mark your calendar for Follow Your Daughter’s Schedule on September 5, and be sure to enjoy some refreshments provided by the Mothers’ Club between your classes. Moms are already getting organized to serve the girls during Big Sister / Little Sister Week.the first week in September, while chaperones are looking forward to attending the orientation dance on September 8.  Shortly after these events is the St. Agnes famous Garage Sale to be held on Saturday, October 6. Please save all your treasures and bring them to the school during collections the first week of October.

Our club meetings are listed below. Please put the dates on your calendar and plan to join us. Please look for any changes and weekly updates on ALL activities in Tiger Tracks.
