Wings to Fly St. Agnes Academy Mother-Daughter Luncheon and Senior Style Show
Invitations All of the invitations have been mailed. If you have not received yours, please email WingsToFly2008@gmail.com.
Reservations Tables of 10 will be assigned in the order in which the completed, postmarked reservation cards and checks are received at St. Agnes. Reservation cards without checks will be held until payment arrives. Your reservation will be confirmed by email (so be sure to put your email address in the space provided on your reservation card) and any questions about reservations should be directed to WingsToFly2008@gmail.com.
To the Seniors All models need to purchase a ticket for the style show.
The style show producer will assign each model an outfit to model from either Dillard's or Tootsies. Assignments will be made at the producer's discretion and the position of the girls' names in the alphabet will have no bearing on the assignments. All senior girls participating in the 2008 Style Show should note that fittings are scheduled to take place the week of April 21st after school and in the evenings.
Once the fitting times and locations are assigned, senior girls should plan to be at the assigned store 10 minutes before their fitting times. Any girl who cannot meet her scheduled fitting time should arrange to swap with another model who wears the same size and is fitting at the same store. Please let the fitting room moms, Sandy Zeluff and Linda Schroeder, know by sending an email to SAAmodels2008@gmail.com . Each model's outfit will be pulled and waiting for her when she arrives at the store for her fitting appointment. If a model switches fitting times with another model and does not let the fitting room moms know, her clothes will not be available when she arrives for her fitting.
Fitting times and locations will be announced the week of April 14. That information will be placed on this web site.
We Need Pink Basket Items Carol Bailey is coordinating the two PINK BASKETS which will be raffled off to the Seniors. She is collecting items for the baskets now. If you would like to make a donation to the baskets please bring anything pink that a college freshman could want, need, or enjoy and drop it off with receptionist Judy Cox - there is a pink basket in her office. If you would rather let Carol purchase an item for you, please make your check payable to St. Agnes Mothers' Club. You can drop it off in the basket in Judy's office or mail to Carol Bailey, 4922 Wigton, Houston, TX 77096.
Be sure to check Tiger Tracks regularly for updates on the Style Show. Title V Funding Announcement St. Agnes is fortunate to participate in the federally funded Title V program. This program provides the school with additional funds to purchase equipment and materials each year. Traditionally these funds have been given to the Isabel Cameron Library to purchase books and/or equipment. The 2007/2008 funds were used to purchase history and science books to enhance those parts of our collection. We welcome suggestions from faculty, students, and parents on any materials you would like to see the library purchase with future funds. Contact: Herman Sutter, Library Director at hsutter@st-agnes.org.
A note for junior parents Please remember that the college counselors will be hosting the Spring Parent Information Night on Tuesday, April 8th in the Strake Family Cafeteria at St. Agnes at 7 pm. The topic for the evening is the College Application Process and we are pleased to announce that Monty Curtis, Associate Vice President for Enrollment Services at Southwestern University will be our guest speaker for the evening. Please mark your calendars and join us for an informative meeting. There will be an opportunity to ask questions of Mr Curtis and the college counselors.
A note for senior parents As we enter into the month of decision making, the college counselors would like to remind families about some of the considerations students have at this time. The rights and responsibilities of the students in the College Admissions Process are clearly defined. Many times students are unclear so the counseling department would like to remind the seniors about these prior to the May 1 deposit deadline.
1. You must notify each college or university that accepts you whether you are accepting or rejecting its offer. You should make these notifications as soon as you have made a final decision as to the college you wish to attend, but no later than May 1. It is understood that May 1 will be the postmark deadline.
2. You may confirm your intention to enroll and, if required, submit a deposit to only ONE college or university. The exception to this arises if you are put on a wait list by a college or university and are later admitted to that institution. You may accept the offer and send a deposit. However, you must immediately notify the college or university at which you previously indicated your intent to enroll.
If you have any questions about this policy, please ask your daughter's counselor.
BUYERS BEWARE It is that time of the year when your daughters might actually be receiving more mail than you. If she took the PSAT in October, and checked the box regarding participation in college search services provided, that is the cause. I think it is fun to receive information about colleges and universities. You should also know that the College Board sells the participant information to other programs as well.
Many of you have received information from the National Society of High School Scholars headquartered out of Atlanta. The offer is free but they would really like for you to buy the book with your daughter's name in it. This is a legitimate business but we do not recommend this program to our parents. It is very similar to Who's Who In American High Schools. We remind you that you should never have to pay for an honor or any kind of recognition.
The next couple of months will be very busy for our Mothers' Club!
The first ever...My Sister's Closet (Upscale/Resale), a cocktail and evening dress re-sale event was held last week with Habitat for Humanity, Dress for Success, Catholic Charity Guild and the SAA Mothers' Club being the beneficiaries. Thank you to Vivian Colvill, Julie Samson, and Cheryl Sorrels and their team for all their dedication and hard work for this new event.
FIRE SALE! FIRE SALE! Some of the dresses left over from the My Sister's Closet will be for sale on Friday, April 11. They will be available to buy during lunch on April 11. Stop by Room C of the cafeteria (Formerly Mothers' Club Room) to take a look. Cost will be $5-$10!
Mark your calendars for The Mother-Daughter Luncheon and Senior Style Show is Monday, April 28, 2008 at The George R. Brown Convention Center downtown. Be sure to send those reservation cards in. Click on the link on the SAA website for more info.
