item to the Aggie or Longhorn basket for our Big Board. If it has anything to do with the Aggies or Longhorns,
we'll take it! Caps, flip flops, t-shirts, board games, chairs, game tickets, mugs, glasses.... use your imagination!

please contact either Selena Stuchly for the Aggies at sstuchly@enervest.net

Summer Total Immersion Programs 2008-2009
One of the most important goals of the foreign language department is for students to become fluent in the language
they are learning. We encourage them to travel abroad and experience different customs and culture firsthand.
In the past, St. Agnes students have availed themselves of the following total immersion programs during the summer.
Instituto San Pedro - Segovia, Spain
Mr. Jose Maria Marti, operations director, will visit St. Agnes on Tuesday, October 14 to speak with parents and
students regarding this program and make a presentation.
Time and place: Fleming Room A, 10/14/08 at lunchtime.
(email sanpedroconsulting@wanadoo.es) or contact Mrs. Moore for brochures
Amigos de Las Americas
A total immersion program that allows participants to live with an "adopted" family and help the poor
in underdeveloped countries. This year's Amigos program still has a few openings. Volunteers
can pay for their own airfare or raise funds for this purpose (there are also a few scholarships). Participants
earn credit for their senior service project. For information call 713-782-5290 ext. 125 or email hchapter@amigoslink.org.
You may also contact Becca Cauthorn at
ccauthorn@st-agnes.org or Chloe Hamilton at chamilton@st-agnes.org

COUNSELORS' CORNER
As you may know, the PSAT will be given to sophomores and juniors on Wednesday,
Oct. 15. In the past, the seniors were taken on a field trip during this time. However, this year, the counseling
office has decided to use this block of time to run workshops related to the college admissions process for seniors.
These workshops will take place from 9 a.m. -11:15 a.m. on the morning of the PSAT. We will have five university
representatives on campus from SMU, TCU, Rice, Texas Tech and Univ. of Houston to help our students with the common
application, Apply Texas and what to expect in the selective admissions process. We will also have two of our English
teachers available for students to receive help with their college essays. Students will sign up for three
sessions in 40-minute blocks. Students are expected to participate and, for attendance purposes, this day will
be treated as a regular school day.
This is the first year we have run a program such as this and we hope
that it will be interactive and valuable for all of our seniors during this busy time of year.
