Results of Mission Effectiveness Survey
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to fill out the Dominican Effectiveness Survey. An overwhelming majority of students, parents, faculty and board members responded positively to the work that is being done at St. Agnes to live out the school mission. Many respondents reported that they were pleased with the academic program, as well as the emphasis placed on service to others, especially those who are marginalized in society. Others commended the strong feeling of community. A few expressed concern that the school is not presenting a more balanced approach in assemblies where speakers appear to have a political agenda. All feedback will be considered carefully and every effort will be made to communicate more effectively about future programming. We also appear to have more work to do with regard to educating people about our Dominican identity. The administration and teachers have recently created a document to address this very issue. The document states that:

This document will be displayed (along with the mission statement) in every room and office on campus. It will also be discussed with students in the retreat program. It is our hope that we can achieve even better understanding within our community of what it means to be Dominican.
Faculty Recital on tap Monday

It’s time for St. Agnes Academy's first-ever Grandparents’ Day. If we have your daughter’s grandparents' information, they should have received an invitation. SAVE THE DATE: SAA Holiday Luncheon
Please save the date for the St. Agnes Academy Holiday Luncheon for SAA Mothers & Friends -Past, Present and Future 11:30 a.m. Thursday December 6, 2007 at the Junior League of Houston. This luncheon will feature Beth Irvine, St. Agnes Academy mother, who will tell us "Three Simple Ways to Create Balance in Every Day Life." Invitation to follow. $30 per person.
Gala Committee Recruiting "Table Captains"
Can we "Come Together" to fill seventy tables of ten at the "Magical Mystery Tour" Gala on Saturday, February 23, 2008? That's the goal of this year's gala committee who has come up with a new way to bring parents on board for St. Agnes Academy's party of the year.
To make this year's gala even more fun, we are asking you to sign up to be a table captain, meaning, a person "in charge" of filling a table of ten. You may take a leadership role to fill a table of ten as a "table captain" either at a sponsorship level of five couples ($3,000 per table and up) or as a table of individual ticket buyers ($150 per ticket). You can also sign up to "captain" a table and we'll let everyone know of available seats at your table to fill it out- a really good way to meet parents of your daughter's friends and other grade level parents.

Gift Gathering Parties for Gala 2008 Wrap Up
Thanks to sophomore parents Maureen and John Graf for hosting their fellow sophomore parents, and to Karen and Bill Bunch for opening their home to their fellow freshman parents for two wonderful gift gathering parties for the Magical Mystery Tour gala! Thanks, too, to all the parents that contributed gifts for the gala's auction coming up on February 23, 2008. Congratulations also to SAA parents and alumni Martha Ramos Mims '76 and Regina Lewis '76 who gathered their classmates and contributed to the cause as co-hosts of a special alumnae party. Thanks to all for their enthusiasm, generosity, and continuing support of St. Agnes Academy!

Thank you to Anne Blue, Cindy Chambers and Karen Counter and their many volunteers for organizing the Open House for Prospective Students on Nov. 7. The parking lot was overflowing, the halls were buzzing and prospective new families got a sample of what St. Agnes is all about!
Upcoming events..
Gail Branca, gbranca@comcast.net , is organizing the Christmas Fund. You should receive your letter in the mail in 2 weeks. Each year the SAA families fund a Christmas bonus to all faculty and staff. If you would like to contribute please send in your contribution to the school no later than Dec. 17th.

Plans are under way for an Cocktail and Evening Dress Re-sale Event to be held in March 2008 .clean out your closets and start thinking about donating your dressy dresses and prom dresses for resale..watch for more details as the plans develop...if you would like help with the planning process for this grand new event please contact Vivian Colvill (vcolvill@houston.rr.com) or Julie Samson (jsamson@frostbank.com)
