A Note from Sr. Jane

Dear St. Agnes Academy Community,

We hope everyone is safe and we want you to know that the entire St. Agnes Academy community has held each of you in prayer as together we experienced this catastrophic event. We walk with you as many begin the process of rebuilding, relocating and healing from Hurricane Harvey. We know some families have had major complications due to this storm. Our heart breaks for you but know we stand with you. We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from parents, alumnae, friends and other high schools throughout the country. Everyone wants to help us and they will.

St. Agnes had little damage – a few leaks here and there but nothing major. We will welcome students back Tuesday, September 5 on a special schedule. More to come from Dean Eichelberger. We have reached out to our families and our faculty. There have been losses in our community -- textbooks, computers, uniforms, homes, cars and literally everything. Please do not worry. We have all experienced this horrific event and the administration and faculty will work with you. We are a strong community and we will take care of one another.

Our theme this year is Courage to Care. How appropriate especially during this time. We have courage and we care about the well-being of each one of your daughters. Our wellness counselors have already a plan in place to help your daughters process their experiences, to alleviate concerns about homework or whatever anxieties they have about reentering school.

I continue to urge you to contact me if you have needs of any kind. A dedicated website is under construction that will allow us to match needs with resources. Stay tuned for an email coming shortly. Click here to sign up to volunteer

My sincere thanks to all of you who have offered your homes, prayers and support. The outreach our community has shown to one another over the past few days is incredible. We continue to pray for you and for our great city of Houston and the surrounding areas as we all come together as one people. We are strong and resilient and we will overcome this historic event together. Our God is a faithful God and is with all of us.

Blessings,

Sr. Jane Meyer, O.P.
