St. Agnes Celebrates Sponsorship Transition
On October 2, 2023, St. Agnes Academy celebrated our new sponsorship with Dominican Veritas Ministries in a special ceremony honoring the Dominican Sisters of Houston.
St. Pius X High School and Rosarian Academy of West Palm Beach, Florida hosted special ceremonies to celebrate the transition of their sponsorship this month as well.
In each school community, this special ceremony brought together the Dominican Sisters, Congregational leaders, DVM Members, DVM, Inc. Trustees, School Board Directors, Presidents/Heads of School, alumni, parents, faculty,staff, and students, to recognize our collective commitment, our joy in the mission, and the importance of change.
Preaching at both the St. Pius and St. Agnes Academy ceremonies, Donna Pollard, OP, reminded us of how this moment of transition is consistent with the 800 year history of the Order of Preachers, founded by St. Dominic: "Dominicans belong to an itinerant order – an order founded on change, growth, evolution, transition, and adaptation. St. Dominic founded an order that would respond to the signs of the times and change as the mission and ministry requires. What we are commemorating today is a real-life example of how we, as Dominicans, are responding to the signs of the times.”
