St. Agnes Academy
High school is more than what happens in the classroom. It's also the team you make varsity for as a freshman, the show you land the lead in, or the club you start because you’re passionate about a particular topic.
At St. Agnes Academy, extracurriculars for high school students aren't an afterthought squeezed in after homework. They're a real part of how you learn
who you are and what you're capable of, right alongside your educational pursuits.
Every Academy woman finds her own mix. Some students play three sports a year, some spend more afternoons in the art lab or the theater than on a field, and others join a few clubs and lead others.
There's no wrong way to get involved, and no requirement to pick just one thing. Here's your full guide to everything available in the area of Tiger Athletics, fine arts, and student clubs and organizations.

Tiger Athletics: Bigger Than the Scoreboard
At St. Agnes,
our athletics department isn't just about winning, though that is important. It's about what you build along the way: discipline, curiosity, integrity, and compassion. Every practice and every season is designed to support the whole you, not just your stats.
That support pays off in the standings. St. Agnes has 119 state titles and counting, and we compete in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS), going up against some of the best private and public schools in the state.
Each of our sports is just as focused on who you're becoming as what you're winning.
Fall Sports:
Cross Country
Field Hockey
Volleyball
Water Polo
Winter Sports:
Spring Sports:
Golf
Lacrosse
Softball
Tennis
Track & Field
Over 500 students play on one of our 36 teams every year, which means there's a real place for you whether you've played competitively since third grade or you've never picked up a lacrosse stick in your life.
An athletic physical is required annually before you try out for any sport, and there's a $150 fee per sport, though a third sport is free if you're the kind of Tiger who can't pick just two.
That investment is well worth it. Learning what it takes to show up for practice (even when you're exhausted), to push through a tough loss, and to trust your teammates when the game is on the line are lessons that outlast any single season and stay with you throughout your life.
Arts: Find Your Medium
Not everyone's stage is a field or a court. At St. Agnes,
the arts program gives you a different kind of team, and a different kind of challenge: be curious, express yourself, and never settle for the easy or obvious answer.
At St. Agnes, you can explore:
Fine Art
Dance
Music
Band
Orchestra
Theatre
Our teachers are always encouraging, but they also push you to innovate and explore rather than just replicate what's already been done. That combination of real encouragement and real challenge is where most students discover what they didn't know they were good at.
Each year brings a full season of marquee performances, so however you get involved, you'll have plenty of chances to show your work in front of a real audience – whether that's a mainstage musical, a fall concert, or a gallery opening in the art building.
Clubs: Something for (Almost) Every Interest
If you can't find your people in athletics or arts, chances are you'll find them in
one of our 49+ student clubs and organizations. St. Agnes clubs are student-led, which means each club has a student leader who runs meetings and sets the agenda, alongside a faculty sponsor who supports her.
If you have an idea for a club that doesn't exist yet, you can very likely start it yourself.
Consider this sample of available clubs on campus, broken into a few categories:
Culture and identity: Asian Student Union, Latin American Youth Association, Middle Eastern Club, European Club, and Diversity Club
Service and advocacy: Caritas, SHARE Club, St. Agnes American Red Cross Chapter, Girl Up SAA, Equality Now, and Respect Life Club
Academic and STEM: STEM Club, Spectrum Engineering Team, Future Medical Professionals Club, National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National Science Honor Society
Creative and niche: Anime Club, SAA Film Club, Creative Writing Club, The Calligraphy Club, SAA Gaming/Esports Club, and Book Club
Civic and political: Young Democrats, Young Conservatives, Young Independents, Junior State of America, and Right to Vote Club
Health and awareness: Autism Awareness Club, Alzheimer's Awareness Club, and Future Medical Professionals Club
Some clubs, such as honor societies, have GPA or participation requirements for membership and continued activity. Most don't. Joining is usually as simple as showing up to a first meeting and putting your name down. That's it. No tryout, audition, or application.
Being part of a club also means being part of something you help shape. Because clubs are student-led, the direction a club takes, what events it runs, what causes it champions, is largely up to the students in the room. That's a different kind of leadership experience than being handed a title. It's about earning your peers' trust and figuring out how to run something well.
Where to Start with Extracurriculars for High School Students
If you're new to St. Agnes, or you just haven't found your thing yet, start with whatever already sounds interesting.
Whatever you choose, extracurriculars at St. Agnes are where classroom lessons turn into real experience: leadership, teamwork, creativity, resilience, and the confidence that comes from trying something hard and getting good at it over time.
Four years from now, the club you almost didn't join or the sport you almost didn't try out for might be the thing you remember most.
