St. Agnes Academy
Prayer is an essential part of education in a Dominican Catholic school. St. Dominic was known to pray in nine different ways, both through his body and mind.
St. Agnes students are encouraged to draw their minds toward their faith, incorporate prayer for class and other important issues into their daily lives, and assume the responsibility to act on behalf of social justice in light of the Gospel.
Let’s review our recommended guide for a Catholic daily devotional for young adults to carry with you through each season of life at St. Agnes.
A Catholic Daily Devotional for Young Adults for Each Day of the Week
If we asked a St. Agnes student what a daily devotional might look like for them, you might find the following scriptures, reflections, and prayers.
Day 1
Building Community Scripture: "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." - Matthew 18:20
Reflection: Today, reflect on the
importance of community. Consider how you can strengthen the bonds of sisterhood at St. Agnes Academy and be a source of support for one another.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you for the community we have in our school. Help us to nurture these bonds and grow together in faith. Amen.
Day 2
The Power of Prayer Scripture: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." - Philippians 4:6
Reflection: Prayer is a powerful way to connect with God. Spend time in prayer today, lifting up your hopes, concerns, and gratitude to the Lord.
Prayer: Gracious God, hear our prayers and guide us in our daily lives. May our conversations with you deepen our faith and trust in your plan. Amen.
Day 3
The Art of Preaching: Learn about the
Dominican tradition of preaching. Reflect on the ways you can preach the Gospel through your actions, words, and interactions with others.
Prayer: Lord, grant us the wisdom to be living examples of your teachings, sharing your love and grace with those around us. Amen.
Day 4
Embracing Study Scripture: "Study to show yourself approved by God, a worker who has no need to be ashamed." - 2 Timothy 2:15
Reflection: Education is a gift that allows us to better understand the world and our faith. Today, reflect on how you can approach your studies with a spirit of curiosity and dedication.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, bless our studies and grant us the wisdom to grow in knowledge and understanding of your creation. Amen.
Day 5
United in Faith Scripture: "May they all be one, as you, Father, are in me and I am in you." - John 17:21
Reflection: Reflect on the unity that comes from sharing a common faith. Consider how you can support one another in your spiritual journeys.
Prayer: Lord, help us to be united in faith, recognizing that we are all part of your larger family. May our bonds be a testament to your love. Amen.
Day 6
The Gift of Learning: Take some time today to engage in a period of focused study. Embrace the joy of learning and appreciate the opportunity to grow intellectually.
Prayer: Loving God, we thank you for the gift of education. May our studies lead us to a deeper understanding of your wisdom and truth. Amen.
Day 7
Spreading Good News Scripture: "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation." - Mark 16:15
Reflection: Consider how you can share the Good News with those around you. Your words and actions can be a testament to your faith.
Prayer: Lord, help us to be bold in sharing your message of love, hope, and redemption with others. May our lives be a living testament to your grace. Amen.
