Learn more about how our high school mock trial program allows you to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills that will benefit you in the future.

Our High School Mock Trial Course Selection

Our program consists of three core courses. Each one builds on the last to give you a solid foundation for your learning journey:
  • Introduction to Law: Students participate in mock trials, study and present legal cases, and engage with legal professionals in the community.
  • Mock Trial Foundations: This class prepares students for competition by teaching courtroom procedures, evidence presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Mock Trial Competition: We designed this class for students to compete on the St.  Agnes team, applying strategies learned in foundations and classroom courses during regional, state, and national competitions.
Through these courses, students gain practical knowledge of courtroom procedures, advocacy techniques, and critical reasoning. These opportunities serve as a springboard for participation in school mock trial competitions across the nation, where students can showcase their skills and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Why Our Program Matters: Building Real-World Skills

Participating in our program allows students to act as attorneys, witnesses, or courtroom artists. They refine public speaking under pressure, practice professional conduct, and develop critical thinking and analytical skills.

The program emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, and ethical decision-making, which are all essential skills both in school and beyond.

Learning Through Competition

The mock trial experience at St. Agnes mirrors the structure of national high school competitions, giving students exposure to complex legal issues and advocacy.

Competitors analyze cases, craft opening and closing arguments, and perform cross-examinations. Participation in school mock trial championships challenges students to think strategically and defend their positions with clarity and confidence.

Teamwork and Personal Growth

Students report that working together in the school mock trial program becomes a defining part of their high school journey. They learn to support each other through fall semester preparation and the state-level rounds.
These experiences foster resilience, problem-solving, and self-confidence, skills that benefit students in all areas of life.

Preparing Students for the Future

By competing in regional and national mock trial competitions, students gain practical experience in public speaking, logic, and professional conduct. Whether pursuing a career in law, public policy, or other fields, the program strengthens analytical ability, ethical discernment, and persuasive communication.
