The month of March serves as a time to reflect on the impact of women across the United States and around the world. While Women’s History Month 2026 has come to a close, its message continues to live on at St. Agnes Academy.

Here, we don’t just pause to celebrate women for a season – we form them for a lifetime of leadership, faith, and purpose.

Rooted in Dominican values, St. Agnes has long been committed to educating young women who lead with truth, compassion, and confidence. That mission is reflected not only in our students but in the thousands of alumnae who carry these values into their communities, careers, and families.

A Community That Lasts a Lifetime

One of the most powerful expressions of Women’s History Month at St. Agnes is our alumnae community. With more than 10,000 graduates, this network reflects generations of women who continue to lead and serve in meaningful ways.

Through mentorship, service, and networking events, alumnae remain deeply connected to the Academy and to one another. Whether they are guiding current students or supporting fellow graduates, they continue to strengthen a community rooted in shared values. This lifelong connection is a defining part of the St. Agnes experience – and a powerful reminder that the impact of a Catholic education extends far beyond high school.

Celebrating Women Who Lead with Purpose

Each year, St. Agnes honors alumnae who embody the spirit of leadership and service through the Veritas and SAYPO Awards. These women represent what it means to live out the values of truth, faith, and compassion in today’s world.

- The 2025 Veritas Award was presented to Sofia Adrogué ’84, a respected attorney, judge, and community leader whose career reflects a deep commitment to justice and service. Her work stands as a powerful example of the Dominican pursuit of truth in action.

- The 2025 SAYPO Award honored Madeline Garvis Smith ’14, an oncology nurse whose compassion extends beyond her profession through her advocacy and service in the Houston community. Her work reflects the heart of what it means to serve others with empathy and purpose.

Their stories remind us that the lessons learned at St. Agnes do not end at graduation – they continue to shape lives and communities for years to come.

Forming the Next Generation of Leaders

While Women’s History Month often encourages reflection, it also calls us to look ahead. At St. Agnes, students are challenged to see themselves as part of the ongoing story of international women making a difference.

Inside the classroom, students engage in meaningful discussions, collaborative learning, and projects that encourage curiosity and critical thinking. Whether working on a history project, leading a service initiative, or participating in campus life, students develop the confidence to lead and the courage to act.

This formation goes beyond academics. It is about helping students discover who they are and how they are called to serve.

Continuing the Impact Beyond Women's History Month 2026

Although Women’s History Month is celebrated during one month, its impact continues throughout the year at St. Agnes. Every day, students are encouraged to grow in faith, lead with integrity, and support one another.

By honoring the achievements of alumnae and investing in current students, St. Agnes continues to celebrate the spirit of national women and their contributions to the world.

Join Us: The Legacy is Still Being Written

At St. Agnes, Women’s History Month is more than a moment – it is part of who we are.

It lives in the stories of our alumnae.

It grows in the hearts of our students.

And it continues in the leaders our graduates become.

As we reflect on Women’s History Month 2026, we are reminded that the story of women’s leadership is still being written – and St. Agnes women are helping lead the way.
